Cyber Bowl

This bowl was created using a traditional metalsmithing technique known as raising, where flat sheet (copper) metal was hammered into a three-dimensional form. While crafting this piece, I focused on form, structure, and the idea of display. I wanted to combine organic and geometric elements, contrasting the soft, circular shape of the bowl with sharp, squared edges and intentional angles inspired by circuit boards.

On the bottom of the bowl, I incorporated a swirling organic form that branches out into circuit-like lines, blending natural and technological motifs. For the base, I intentionally used negative space, allowing viewers to catch glimpses of the bottom through the structure itself. I’m especially drawn to how the light interacts with the piece, casting harsh and unique shadows that change depending on the angle, adding an ephemeral, almost digital quality to this traditionally made object.
